SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PLAN – ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL DISTRICT
The MPO is working closely with the St. Joseph School District to complete its Safe Routes to School Plan. The plan is required to seek federal transportation alternatives funding in the future for sidewalk construction, repairs, and ADA enhancements within a two block (quarter mile) radius of each school. The sidewalk inventory includes the condition of sidewalk on both sides of the street. The draft St. Joseph School District Safe Routes to School Plan is on the June agenda for both the MPO’s Technical and Coordinating Committee for approval. Once approved, the plan will seek official approval from the School Board.
SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PLAN – RIVERSIDE SCHOOL DISTRICT UPDATE
In an effort to support funding requests for the federal Safe Routes to school funding program, the MPO is working closely with the Riverside School District in Elwood and Wathena, Kansas to update its existing Safe Routes to School Plan. The existing plan was outdated and does not meet the current requirements for funding.The sidewalk inventory has been updated to include both sides of the street for a quarter mile radius from each school location.
SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PLAN – SAVANNAH SCHOOL DISTRICT UPDATE
The MPO has updated its Safe Routes to School Plan for the Savannah School District. The update focused on providing new ideas and programs for Safe Routes to School events and strategies for the School District’s administrators, principals, teachers, parents and students.
ST. JOSEPH METRO NON-MOTORIZED PLAN; AN INTEGRATED COMPLETE STREETS ROADMAP
The MPO is working to update and expand the City of St. Joseph’s Bicycle and Pedestiran Master Plan to reflect the regional nature of the future urban trailway network and connect St. Joseph to its regional neighbors to the north and across the river into Kansas. With a focus on the Complete Streets policy, the Non-Motorized Plan will integrate the most advanced planning philosophies about multi-modal corridor planning.
